  2. Fix Excel API - binding.getRange() returns the wrong address if the binding was created from bindings.addFromNamedItemAsync()

    It returns the sheet name that was active when the call to addFromNamedItemAsync() was made and not the range of the actual named item. The cell range is correct though.

    For example if the "MyNamedRange" which points to A1,B1,C1 is in Sheet1 to but the active sheet is Sheet2 when the binding is created then range.address = "Sheet2!$A$1:$C$1 after binding.getRange() and it should be Sheet1
    function getRangeAddressFromBinding()
    {
    Excel.run(function (ctx)
    {

      var binding = ctx.workbook.bindings.getItem("myId");

    var range = binding.getRange();

    range.load('address');

    return ctx.sync().then(function ()
    {
    write("Range address is " + range.address);
    });

    })
    .catch(function (error)
    {

      console.log("Error: " + error);

    if

  3. Provide API to evaluate Excel formula

    In Office.js for Excel, please provide the API to evaluate Excel formula.
    It should perform evaluation of a given Excel formula not necessarily in an Excel range. Basically it should be something similar to this VBA API: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff193019.aspx
    This is critical to help the apps built on Office.js provide fundamental support as seen in traditional C#/VBA APIs.

  8. Implement arrow style for a data series in a chart

    In Office Excel, you have an option to implement an arrow style in your line chart for a data series.

    However, it seems like the office.js library is unable to implement this option.

    Excel.Line has the option I'm looking for (beginArrowheadLength, beginArrowheadStyle, etc, ), but it was strictly for shapes, completely separate from series charts, and has no way to somehow implement a custom shape to the data series.

    Adding this feature would help me greatly to create a chart directly to excel instead of building a custom chart inside the page.

    More information on my stackoverflow question:

  9. Please .... Add the count cell by color function to Excel...

    HI
    why we cant use count or sum cells by background color as a directly function in Excel.
    It mean Microsoft development team can't resolve it.
    why we most write some codes in vb6 module for this???
    why we can't use it directly in Excel formulas???

    best regards

  10. Implement reliable WebSockets for Custom Function Add-In in Office.js.

    Currently the web socket implementation for desktop version of Excel (Version 16.0.11601.20130 32 Bit) is not correct. The property bufferedAmount is not implemented in this version. Further messages are lost, if “send” on the WebSocket is called frequently directly from a custom function. It seems as if the SDXPlatformBundle_foundation.js has some bugs.
    In office online the problem does not exist. Please make desktop version behave like online version of Excel with a complete implementation of WebSockets.

  11. Trusted Catalog / Shared Folder: Incompatibility Excel 2013/2016

    I have created a JavaScript Add-In (works fine with Excel 2013 and Excel 2016).
    The add-in is loaded from a shared folder (manifest file)
    There is one difference between Excel 2013 and 2016.
    In 2016:
    When I change the location of the shared folder from server A to server B (move manifest file to different server), then the Add-In will not load in 2016. Of course I have adjusted the "Trusted Catalogs" accordingly in the trust center settings, to trust the NEW location (new shared folder). The error "This add-in is no longer available from the following server ..." is…

  12. Name Manager name address format to JS API

    We have given each Excel Table column our own Name using Name Manager. Now it is hard to find mapping between that and Table Column Name/Index. Excel UI shows it in Name Manager this way: =dimensionstable[[#Headers];[Dimension]] in 'Refers to' text box, but namedItemObject.getRange(); returns Range and from Range you get it out only in A1 format relative to worksheet, not in the form that Name Manager shows it, which would be needed.

    We cannot use Table Header Names to identify column as user can change that (and we want to leave that option for user), so we use our own…

  14. Excel API - call to binding.getRange() on a deleted binding range corrupts the workbook file and needs repair when re-opened

    If binding range is deleted by deleting all columns or rows of the range and then binding.getRange() is called it corrupts the workbook file and when re-opened the workbook needs repair (which will delete all the corrupt binding AND all other binding ranges in the same sheet that was corrupted).

    This might not seem like a big deal at first but, in addition to this occurring when the user is in session with your add-in loaded, a lot can happen when your add-in is not loaded and when it is re-loaded you have to deal with these situations if you…

  15. Allow custom charts to be build on pivottables

    We are developing an excel app that uses javascript charting libraries. We are able to connect to plain data and named tables, but the office.js API does not support pivot table connections. (if it does, please let us know, because we can`t find any documentation). having the ability to connect your own chart to a dynamic pivottable is key for any Business Intelligence report environment.

  17. SSO for Excel custom functions

    Use case: We have a task pane Excel Add-in working in conjunction with custom functions. Custom functions as well as the task pane need authentication before they are granted access to a resource. We'd like to offer either Single-Sign-On with the Microsoft account or sign-on with a proprietary account and want to avoid burdening the user with multiple sign-in prompts. The custom functions don't need any UI, that means the user can run custom functions with or without opening the task pane.

    I'm aware of the 'OfficeRuntime.AsyncStorage' option to exchange tokens between the task pane and the custom function portions.

  19. Excel-JS should support already open Excel workbooks

    When multiple workbooks are open Excel treats their worksheets in a similar way across all open workbooks: you just qualify range references with the workbook name.
    Excel-JS should behave the same way when the user opens multiple workbooks.
