  3. Add support for calculated fields in a Pivot Table

I cannot find a way to add calculated fields to a PivotTable in Office JS.
In VBA there was CalculatedFields where we can add value fields with excel formula expression.

Is it not supported, if yes then is it their in the to do list and when can we expect to have it?

  4. Reverse VLookUp/ WLookUp

The LookUp formulas are very powerful tools for any kind of application. Often you are not only searching for the first corresponding value in an Excel sheet, but also for the last corresponding value in an Excel sheet. So reverse references would be very useful.
The Reverse VLookUp should therefore search from bottom to top in the matrix.
The Reverse WLookUp should therefore search from right to left in the matrix.

  5. add optional/mandatory/required option to other Office Apps through Central Deployment

Using Central Deployment, you can only set the options of optional/mandatory/required when deploying an Outlook add-in. This feature would be useful for other Office Applications too.

We have an internally developed add-in that it would make sense to make available to all employees and announce it's availability. Only those employees that have a need for it would add it to their Office environment. This is more consistent with VBA/COM add-in behavior where they can uncheck and check them when needed.

The current solution we are investigating is to create a software center package that when installed adds a user to…

  6. expose Notes in the Excel JavaScript API as an alternative to Comments

Comments are useful when you expect other authors to review or respond to the information. Notes are still useful when you don't expect that same use.

For our use case, we pull timeseries values into the Excel spreadsheet but are expected to add observation level metadata as notes to those values, so as not to disrupt the actual data grid. We have tried with the current Comment API however it pollutes the Comment Review with potentially tens of thousands of comments that are not meant for collaboration.

I've also noticed others say you can't add Notes in the iPad version…

  7. Update Outlook Actionable Messages to latest version of Adaptive Cards

Adaptive Cards is on v1.3 and has a lot of cool features.

From the Adaptive Cards playground, and independent testing it seems only v1.0 of Adaptive Cards is supported.

Would like to see Outlook Actionable Messages updated to support the latest version of Adaptive Cards (currently 1.3)

  8. add a visible non-visible property to all add-ins

There should be a property which tells if the taskpane add-in is currently visible on the screen, and also an event for any change in this property. I know there is the document.visibilty property but it is not reliable especially in the desktop version

  12. Access client-side Outlook email forward rules by the office-js SDK

There are email forward rules that run on a server side and can be viewed by the MSGraphAPI and there are the rules the exist on the local machine. They run only when Outlook client is running and after the email has been downloaded.

  17. pass parameters from the command line into Office.initialize.

Currently we launch the Addin (saved workbook) on desktop by running excel.exe via the command prompt as we have to pass some parameters to the addin.

But I cant find any way to read these command line arguments in the addins Office.initialize.

  18. Support for high DPI taskpanes

Office now supports high-DPI and per-monitor DPI awareness, but custom task-panes do not. Add-in custom task panes are always hosted in a system aware host window and there is no way to indicate our add-in is high-DPI and multi-monitor DPI aware. Our customers therefore only see a low resolution user interface in the task panes. The Excel built-in task panes support high-DPI so this shouldn't be too difficult, maybe a registry setting indicating the add-in supports high-DPI or even an extra parameter to ICTPFactory.CreateCTP indicating support.

  19. More powerful editable regions (within protected docs)

This idea is based on Macromedia Contribute (from 20 years ago). It was a decent tool for collaborative content management in its day.

Imagine that you're a secretary, tasked with compiling the annual report. The report summarizes dozens of different projects and each project manager is responsible for authoring a project sub-report.

Rather than compile dozens of reports into a final report, you create a single Word doc, define editable regions within it, assign each region to the person(s) who can edit it, set limits on usable styles, word limit (etc) for each region, then protect the document to lock…

  20. Please use the monoline icons in File Explorer

There are so many icons that don't necessarily need a higher resolution (for backwards compatibility) but need a new design.
