I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Activate mail apps in more scenarios other than read and compose

    Current the mail apps can only be activated in read/compose. It would be helpful to allow mail apps to be available at Outlook application level such as in a task pane docked to main outlook window.

    The scenario is as follows:
    I have a backend document management service to be exposed in Outlook main window all the time. So I can drag/drop email to our document store.

  2. Retrieve custom properties of a message/appointment from each mailbox

    Currently the custom properties stored within an item are scoped to the user's mailbox. It would be great if we could access them everywhere. For example a scenario:
    Compose form which will store facilities required for a meeting within an appointment. In webmail the receptionist could open the read form of the appointment and see all the required facilities stored in custom properties.

    Currently this is not possible, because the receptionist is viewing it from another mailbox where the custom properties are not available.

  3. Office 365 json api | send emails with inline image attachments

    I send the description my team is having with the json integration with Office API 365.

    We want to send an email with inline attachments through the JSON API.

    With that objective, what we are doing:

    1. Create an empty draft message;
    2. Send the several inline attachments;
    3. Update the body of the draft message (with cid images inline);
    4. Send the message;

    What is are our issue with the API?

    We are unable to set the "ContentType" properties when we submit the attachments to the Office API 365.
    Despite the "ContentType" we send, it is always null.

    We…

  4. Solve Office Activation Issues on Azure VMs

    Office installed on Azure VMs are losing their activation after a VM shutdown. This makes it impossible to create test VMs or use Office on a developer VM to develop/test/deploy(buildserver output) on Azure. Activation based on hardware assets such as harddrive and network MAC/IP combinations is outdated in 2014 and invalidates your VM images.

  5. Javascript API: Trigger the AutoFormat functionality of Office

    I sometimes use use SetDataAsync to write an email address into a cell. When this is done manually, Excel converts it into a clickable link. When it is done with SetDataAsync, this auto formatting doesn't happen. If would be great if it was just automatically triggered.

  6. Encourage users to give feedback on each app

    At present, very few users give feedback and reviews on apps. As a result, other users are less likely to try them.

    At every possible stage, there should be a mechanism for users to rate the app - provide a number of stars and comments. That could be an email reminder or a message that comes up next time they visit the store or something inside of Office 365. The more users that give feedback, the more that other people will feel encouraged to try.

  8. OneNote WebApi for On Premisis Offce Web App Server

    When developing on Premises enterprise Web applications there is a need to integrate Office Web Applications into them to provide additional functionality where data privacy is critical (for example through legislation).

    For this reason enterprises often cannot utilise Azure hosted solutions such as OneNote online, but must use on-premises servers (an example is Office Web App server which provides in-browser support for Office Applications in SharePoint).

    While it is possible to create a windows desktop application that can use the OneNote COM API provided by a locally installed copy of OneNote, it appears not to be possible to provide the…

  9. I'd like to have a Task Pane or area like in Mail that activates within the View Contact view or Edit Contact view.

    In the past I've enhanced the users experience in contacts using a custom form/form region and would like to expand that to the contacts in Office 365.

  10. Make the store page for each app more user-friendly.

    The front page to the new store looks fantastic, it's nice, user-friendly and very intuitive. But that redesign doesn't extent to the page for each app.

    When you click on an app, the page for each app is messy. It should be redesigned to encourage users to explore the screenshots, read the description and instructions, click relevant video, and ultimately add the app.

  11. Deprecate localisation of Excel function names

    Many ages ago someone in the USA got the *GREAT* idea to localize the names of Excel functions. She probably wanted to please international users from all over the world: why a user from Czechoslovakia should learn a new term "SUM"when he knows "SUMA" from school... And why the foreigner should learn "VALUE" when he knows "HODNOTA" in his language. Well so far so good. But the Czech guy says and writes word "text" exactly the same as his English colleague. God knows why she (the MS person in America) suddenly translated the function "TEXT" as "HODNOTA.NA.TEXT" in the Czech…

  12. On Office App store search results page, show Provider field in app details.

    On the search result page for Office Apps, show the provider field of each App.

    e.g. https://store.office.com/search.aspx?productgroup=SharePoint&catfltr=6&category=Editor%2527s%2BPicks

    Can't tell which apps are made by Microsoft and which ones are made by which partner.

  13. Provide at least two licenses in O365 Developer Pack

    You can't test user permissions and other things with a single admin user. Running as admin isn't really best practice when developing. Agreed?

  14. Over a certain threshold return a URL to download the Attachment contents

    Instead of returning an enormous base64 string in JSON that has to be streamed by some event-based json parser, make things easy.

    For under 32K inline it
    For over 32k provide an endpoint

    response could be (inline)

    {
    inline: true
    content: (base64)

    }

    or not inline

    {
    inline: false
    content: 'http:xxxx/streamingservice.com/attachments/3293929349d"

  15. Merge Apps for Office and Sharepoint API (Ewa namespace) and Office 2013 JS API

    Is there a reason why you would not provide a common base for the two API's?
    The Ewa namespace offers a lot of functionality requested in many ideas related to the Offie 2013 API - it seems you already have the code and the interface in the Ewa namespace ?

  16. Allow Mail Apps to add custom email format address to new mail item "To" list

    Extend the mailitem.to.addAsync() method to accept the custom email formats i.e 'Kiran123@/CO=OT' or.'RFAX:KIRAN@/FN=111/VN=1111' etc.
    Currently "Office.cast.item.toMessageCompose(item).to.addAsyc()" method is not accepting any custom email address. It is throwing the following error message.

    "No valid recipients were provided"

  17. Add SlideSelectionChanged event for Powerpoint in the JavaScript API

    The JavaScript API for Office should be enhanced so developers have an event notifying if the current slide in the normal / edit mode is changed. This would allow for more contextual user interaction.

  18. Office Apps for all Clients Applications

    I saw a lot of devs and customers being confused caused by the point that Apps are not available across all Office client applications. Especially OneNote would be a great benefit. OneNote is one of the best Apps I've ever used. Can't imagine my daily business without OneNote. We've collected several ideas which would enhance OneNote even more and make customer more productive.

  19. Favorites Apps for Office

    Make possible to add an App to the list of Favorites Apps. Favorites Aps should be available on the Home ribbon tab and/or available from the Quick Access Toolbar.

  20. Protect against copy to clipboard

    In order for protected content to be displayable in Word as part of a larger (unprotected) document, Copy of some document regions must be prevented. This is possible today with VSTO Add-Ins, by reacting to selection changes and clearing the selection when necessary, impossible with the current Javascript API.
