  2. context.document.body.lists could return list items inside of Tables.

    Hello,
    I have found that the command "context.document.body.lists" not return that list items that it are inside of table. I think that it could be nice to do it.

  4. Word JavaScript API: Cursor-Position Change Event

    Please correct me if I am mistaken, but it seems there's no way to determine when the cursor has changed position on a document.

    In JavaScript, listening for this may look like:
    context.document.addEventListener('cursorpositionchange', handleChange, ...);

    Ideally, this event would be 'debounced' for performance so that holding the down-arrow-key would not toast your CPU. The event should only be fired once the cursor has stopped for, say, 500 miliseconds.

    Use Case
    It would be nice to be able to always track the cursor position and, if on a paragraph that I care about, select what content is at the cursor.

  5. Add native drag and drop support for ooxml

    Hi ,

    Could you possibly build in support for a feature using drag and drop from word web add-in to word using ooxml.

    Something like native drag and drop but support for an additional type.

    e.g.

    {div class="row" id="testDrag" draggable="true" ondragstart="dragStart(event)"}
    Test Draggable element
    {/div}

    {script}
    function dragStart(event) {

    event.dataTransfer.setData(ooxml, "{w:p}insert xml here {/w:p}"

    }
    {/script}

    then word would insert as ooxml on drop.

    Note: html open and close brackets replaced with {}

  6. Create a syntax or tool to add more than 35 Table of Contents (ToC) in a single document

    Hi,
    I am using tool of TC to create multiple ToC but there is a limitation that I can't use a double letter identifier after the switch f (eg. \f 11\ or \f aa). so I can accommodate more than 25 ToC in a single document. even if I use all alphabet and numbers too, it is limited to 35 ToC maximum.
    my suggestion is to please make some syntex which can help to use a double letter identifier to accommodate more than 35 ToC in a single document. thanks

  7. CreateDocument OfficeJS API support in Word Online with 3rd-party WOPI hosts

    CreateDocument API is not working in Word for web when using 3rd-party WOPI Hosts.
    This turned out to be supported only by OneDrive & SharePoint. The API works as expected in desktop version.

    For reference: https://github.com/OfficeDev/office-js/issues/1340

    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

  8. More powerful editable regions (within protected docs)

    This idea is based on Macromedia Contribute (from 20 years ago). It was a decent tool for collaborative content management in its day.

    Imagine that you're a secretary, tasked with compiling the annual report. The report summarizes dozens of different projects and each project manager is responsible for authoring a project sub-report.

    Rather than compile dozens of reports into a final report, you create a single Word doc, define editable regions within it, assign each region to the person(s) who can edit it, set limits on usable styles, word limit (etc) for each region, then protect the document to lock…

  9. JavaScript API to group a Range of text

    I want to group a text range in MS Word. On MS Word, it is possible to use the Group option under Developer Tab. It would be great if an MS Word API is available to do so.
    The idea was posted here originally with pictures as well - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/62446816/group-text-range-in-ms-word-with-javascript-api.

  11. Allow dialog boxes to interact with the Word document

    According to the documentation ...
    "Dialog boxes - Display custom UI in a dialog box that overlays the Office document. Use a dialog box for interactions that require focus and more real estate, and do not require a side-by-side interaction with the document." (Emphasis added)

    There is some emphasis in the Office Add-in documentation regarding consistency of the add-in UI with the Word/Office experience, which i whole-heartedly agree with, but this dialog requirement is actually not consistent with the existing Word/Office user experience. Users regularly interact with dialog boxes.

    It's probably a small point, but I want to write…

  13. Add support to execute VBA macro from officeJs word taskpane.

    Most of the word API's OfficeJs is not supported like xml mapping with content controls. But there are other way like VBA macro to do it.
    So if it is possible to call VBA macro from OfficeJs API we are able to use most of the API's from VBA which are not supported by Officejs.

  14. Provide a method to close an already opened document

    It would be really great to have a method (like context.document.close()) to close an already opened document. I need this to ensure that when I open a document using document.open(), the document should be opened in the same instance.

  15. Word Add-in: MAC IndexedDB behaviour is strange

    I have stored some data from word add-in into IndexedDB. So, For that session, I am able to retrieve data and work with that.

    But when I close the word(Completely Quit from menu), and reopens, then I open word add-in and I don't get access to data into IndexedDB. Also, not getting any error.

    Again, when I close add-in and reopen, I get access to data. So, I don't get access only first time when I completely quit word and reopens again.
    It's strange behavior.

  16. track changes support

    I would really appreciate if the Microsoft Word Add In could provide an API for support the Track/Revision changes. Currently there seems to be no support it in the API. Have been waiting for the same for a number of years now.

  17. Word API- put a custom attribute on 'P'/Sect/children etc

    When ooxml is written back, please allow adding custom attribute to 'P'/section and any/all of its children, or to a 'Range'.
    Once set, a 'search' can be done on any custom attribute and its value and a Range (or RangeList as indicated via search) be returned, covering all contiguous tags having the attr/value.

    This, with some search improvements suggested (here: https://officespdev.uservoice.com/forums/224641-feature-requests-and-feedback/suggestions/40539628-word-api-search-improvements) will greatly improve user experience who's using the addin.

  18. Word API - search improvements

    Three improvements suggested:

    1- Preferably search be given an extra parameter (or someway) indicating 'direction' - search 'forward' (below current cursor position) or 'backward' (above current cursor).

    2- A search should be possible on any attribute/value of P/Sect etc and/or any of its children.

    3- A search can also indicate if user wants to get only the first Range (ie 1st search result only) or all ranges (ie all search results). Word doesn't need to scan whole document if all user is looking for is next/previous one result only, which will result in faster turn-around.

    All these are specially needed…
