  1. Allow administrators to pin Office Add-ins

    With the preview release of "the new Outlook" on OWA, Office Add-ins are now buried in the drop down context menu in an email. Additionally, it appears they do not follow the same behavior of Outlook on the desktop, where Office Add-ins will show in the larger ribbon if used more frequently.

    According to this article, Office Add-ins can be pinned if they are used frequently:

    If you were using add-ins in the classic Outlook on the web experience, they will show up pinned next to mail actions or in the drop-down menu once you open an email in the…

  2. Allow Outlook add-in commands to be used on selections of multiple items

    Currently an add-in command will disable if multiple Outlook mail items are selected. It would be really useful to be able run certain commands by iterating over a collection of the selected items.

  3. Support dynamic content in Add-in commands ribbon dropdown menu

    It would be very useful if add-ins dropdown menu could contain dynamically generated items. Now the displayed content in the ribbon dropdown need to be hardcoded even for sub-menus which limit the capabilities of add-ins commands.

  4. Support Compose AddIn on Mobile

    According to this...

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/dev/add-ins/reference/manifest/extensionpoint#extension-points-for-outlook

    ...Addins are only supported for message read, on mobile. Can we please have a MobileMessageReadCommandSurface ExtensionPoint, so that we may create an addin for message compose, on mobile.

  5. Provide functionality for Outlook Add-In to automatically launch in the task pane

    Our very successful commercial Outlook add-in ePredict for SharePoint (http://ww3w.docauto.com/product/epredict-for-sharepoint) automatically launches its UI in the task pane in desktop versions of Outlook. Our customers are interested in a version for Office 365 Outlook online. However, Office 365 Outlook online requires user input to launch a task pane add-in. Our users would not accept this. Please add functionality, probably in the manifest, that would allow a user to give permission to an add-in to automatically launch in the task pane when an existing email is opened or a new email is being created. Thanks!

  6. Add ContextMenu Extension Point to modern Outlook Add-ins

    It would be useful to allow Outlook Add-ins to have context menu extension points to allow for more granular action controls (e.g. Right-clicking THIS specific email allows me to act on it with THIS add-in)

    It seems that the context menu isn't off limit to all Office programs, such as Word or Excel, but there is not any support for Outlook.

  7. Trying to save a blob file in Outlook for macOS using javascript

    Ok so I have a Blob file that I'm trying to save on local disk (the Blob is created locally from an ArrayBuffer). The problem I'm facing is that Outlook for macOS does not want to open a FileSaverDialog or something similar to let the user save the file.

    My code is working perfectly in Outlook for Web (OWA) on all browsers (including Safari) and Outlook for Windows.

    const blob = new Blob([body]); //body is an ArrayBuffer created locally
    const link = document.createElement('a');
    if (link.download !== undefined) {

    const url = URL.createObjectURL(blob);

    link.setAttribute('href', url);
    link.setAttribute('download', fileName);
    link.style.visibility = 'hidden';
    document.body.appendChild(link);

  8. Allow displayMessageForm to open itemId in same window

    Currently displayMessageForm method is opening the message pointed by itemId in a new window.

    It will be great if we could pass an option to the method Office.context.mailbox.displayMessageForm() that allows to replace the current visualized message with the new message indicated in itemId.

    The use case that I want to enable here is to programmatically navigate with add-in javascript to arbitrary messages knowing their itemIds.

  9. Allow mail apps to be OWA only

    The new Mail Apps make adding functionality to OWA very easy, however they lack some of the power of a full-on Outlook addin. I suspect that a common use case will be to create a full-powered addin, and a "lite" mail app that handles what it can for OWA. At present, this doesn't work because the mail app shows up in both. Furthermore, it is possible to create functionality that only applies to one client or the other. It should be possible to specify an app as belonging to OWA or to Outlook.

  10. Make Outlook/Mail Universal App supporting Office add-ins

    The Universal App Mail (Outlook mobile) is definitely used a lot and is a solid candidate for being the mobile friendly Outlook client people were looking for.
    Unfortunately, the version 17.6525.42271.0 does not support office add-ins. I did not see a roadmap indicating it will be, but that would be a huge plus. Now the only mobile approach to consume add-ins is with a fallback with Outlook Web Access.

  13. Pinnable Task Pane Support for Mac and OWA

    The Pinnable Task Pane is a great piece of functionality, because as the user is navigating through their Inbox it is cumbersome to have to click a button to open an add-in for each email.

    Support for this (at least as per the documentation) is limited only to Outlook 2016 for Windows.

    This Idea captures the work to enable this functionality for both OWA and the Mac desktop client.

  14. Make signature in outlook available through office js

    We want to set a different signature in the mail body from the outlook add-in. Right now altering the whole html of the mail body makes this quite impossible, especially because it is different on all different platforms. (win, mac, online different browsers)

  15. Allow AutoRun of Outlook Addins

    Just like the regular MS Office addins, we would like to create an addin that runs automatically when a mail is selected. There are various use cases for this.

    For example, we built an addin that scans email messages when selected and analyzes is and displays messages to the user based on the ,message. This addin is used in the context of phishing mails.

    This addin is currently not possible with the current Outlook 365 development model as we want to be proactive and not wait for our users to click on an icon before a mail is processed. In…

  16. Immediate synced to the server - saveAsync to get an itemId to use with EWS or the REST API

    Copied from : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46671562/how-can-we-force-a-mailbox-item-to-be-persisted-to-ews?rq=1

    Note: This particular issue has significant impact on our customers, which translates to high business impact with direct consequences on revenue.

    TL;DR.
    How can our Office add-in for Outlook, when a user interacts with our add-in while composing an email draft, minimize the amount of time it takes before the EWS GetItem API will return an OK response for the itemId we receive from Office.context.mailbox.item.saveAsync()?

    If it turns out that our add-in has no control over when the item will be persisted to EWS, then what could an end-user do to speed this up?

    We are…

  17. Support iOS compose in Add-Ins

    Currently (05/2017) Outlook for iOS does not support Compose Add-Ins.

    Please support iOS and give us some idea of when this support will be available.

  18. Make the module extension add-in available for Outlook.com (and then hopefully the iOS and Android mobile apps)

    Just looking at the new module extension point for Outlook add-ins.

    https://dev.office.com/docs/add-ins/outlook/extension-module-outlook-add-ins?product=outlook

    I notice that this is only currently available for the desktop version of Outlook

    "Note: Module extensions are available only in Office 2016 Click to Run."

    It would be great if this extension could be added to the Outlook.com and the mobile apps

  19. Support for invoking O365 add-ins in shared mailbox context in the new Web Outlook

    We have been told that support for add-ins in shared mailboxes will be added to Outlook in Q2/Q3 of 2019. Thus, we have started rolling out support for shared mailboxes in our add-in too.

    As part of this, we have noticed that the add-in icons are only rendered in the context of a shared mailbox element if the user is in the old look of Web Outlook.

    Since more and more people will be using the new look as default, users should be able to invoke the add-ins via the new look too.

    Please add support for rendering the add-in…

  20. Allow office.js Outlook add-ins to open a new compose email form

    Our use case is to display email addresses for contacts in a user's CRM (other colleagues of the sender, for example), and those addresses be hyperlinks to open a new email in the active Outlook with the "TO:" field pre-populated with that address.
