  1. Create an event to know when content control is selected in word online.

I am trying to create an event to know what content control is selected. Alex Jerabek told me that "onSelectionChanged" could be useful but it is still in BETA. So I would like to ask you implement these events and release them.
Thank you very much for your time.

  2. Allow mail apps to be OWA only

The new Mail Apps make adding functionality to OWA very easy, however they lack some of the power of a full-on Outlook addin. I suspect that a common use case will be to create a full-powered addin, and a "lite" mail app that handles what it can for OWA. At present, this doesn't work because the mail app shows up in both. Furthermore, it is possible to create functionality that only applies to one client or the other. It should be possible to specify an app as belonging to OWA or to Outlook.

  3. Make Outlook/Mail Universal App supporting Office add-ins

The Universal App Mail (Outlook mobile) is definitely used a lot and is a solid candidate for being the mobile friendly Outlook client people were looking for.
Unfortunately, the version 17.6525.42271.0 does not support office add-ins. I did not see a roadmap indicating it will be, but that would be a huge plus. Now the only mobile approach to consume add-ins is with a fallback with Outlook Web Access.

  4. Make O365 user identity available in Word Add In

Authenticated O365 users shall not be prompted to login again when they want to use Word Add-In. At the moment any Word Add In secured using O365 directory need to prompt users to enter their credential again despite that they have logged in to O365.
The goal is to provide a better user experience with this single sign on.

  5. Support Outlook appointment AddIn on Mobile

    According to this...

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/dev/add-ins/reference/manifest/extensionpoint#extension-points-for-outlook

...Addins are only supported for message read, on mobile. Can we please have a MobileAppointmentOrganizerCommandSurface and MobileAppointmentAttendeeCommandSurface ExtensionPoint, so that we may create an addin for appointments on mobile.

  7. Office Add-ins should run in Chromium-based Edge, not EdgeHTML

At the moment addins run in EdgeHTML

Recently Chromium-based Edge has been released which is much faster than EdgeHTML

Add-ins should run in new, Chromium-based Edge.

Will it be "just done" at the next Windows update?

    Similar to previous suggestion:

  9. Pinnable Task Pane Support for Mac and OWA

The Pinnable Task Pane is a great piece of functionality, because as the user is navigating through their Inbox it is cumbersome to have to click a button to open an add-in for each email.

Support for this (at least as per the documentation) is limited only to Outlook 2016 for Windows.

This Idea captures the work to enable this functionality for both OWA and the Mac desktop client.

  10. Create Word Comments via Office API

    Hi,

Could you add functionality to create Word comments via the Office API?

I know have a proof of concept, named Feedback+, in the store where we create comments into a word document. But this has a bug. It creates a paragraph everytime someone creates a comment in the document.

    Thanks,

    JW

  11. Open XML SDK - add a support to save Word docx as PDF. 3rd party tools are costly and do not render complex docx as SaveAs2 of Word Interop.

Word Interop is a nice solution, yet very slow (comparing to OpenXml) and unreliable (we encountered that if a user clicks Ctrl+C to copy something, whilst Interop is running in a background, generating multiple documents, its content will be pasted onto one of those documents, although the user intended to paste it somewhere else) . There are 3rd party solutions to save as PDF from OpenXml, yet they do not render correctly our relatively complex invoices (header with image and table, footer with table and so on), so for now we ended up to generate them all as docx and…

  12. JS API function to prevent user from sheet interaction

It would be extremely helpful in certain cases to prevent user to interact with the sheet/workbook while some action in the task pane is required or when some process is running (e.g. when some complex sheet changes are being performed - formatting, inserting columns, inserting data, charts....).

  13. No direct support to lock document programmatically

Currently we are adding a Content Control to the entire body and setting its cannot Edit property to true.

This works fine in Desktop and Mac, but fails in case of Word online and iPad when we have nested Content Controls.

  14. Emit event for document that is about to be saved, or email that is about to be sent

there are numerous regulatory scenarios where information needs to be captured as part of a save or send event.

This might be mandatory information as part of regulatory compliance, or information that the enterprise requires prior saving a document (e.g. management information of some sort).

The most natural place to capture this is at the time of either a document being saved, or an email being sent (once the user has entered their content and therefore understands what metadata is appropriate).

If an event could be bound to it would introduce some interesting use cases within the larger business environment.

  15. Make signature in outlook available through office js

We want to set a different signature in the mail body from the outlook add-in. Right now altering the whole html of the mail body makes this quite impossible, especially because it is different on all different platforms. (win, mac, online different browsers)

  16. Allow AutoRun of Outlook Addins

Just like the regular MS Office addins, we would like to create an addin that runs automatically when a mail is selected. There are various use cases for this.

For example, we built an addin that scans email messages when selected and analyzes is and displays messages to the user based on the ,message. This addin is used in the context of phishing mails.

This addin is currently not possible with the current Outlook 365 development model as we want to be proactive and not wait for our users to click on an icon before a mail is processed. In…

  17. Universal Changed Event Support

Add a custom binding (named AllDocument binding) encompassing opened Powerpoint file , Excel File or Word file from Office.js so that a before chang event is raised to App. This will help with validations/ custom actions

  18. Immediate synced to the server - saveAsync to get an itemId to use with EWS or the REST API

    Copied from : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46671562/how-can-we-force-a-mailbox-item-to-be-persisted-to-ews?rq=1

Note: This particular issue has significant impact on our customers, which translates to high business impact with direct consequences on revenue.

    TL;DR.
How can our Office add-in for Outlook, when a user interacts with our add-in while composing an email draft, minimize the amount of time it takes before the EWS GetItem API will return an OK response for the itemId we receive from Office.context.mailbox.item.saveAsync()?

If it turns out that our add-in has no control over when the item will be persisted to EWS, then what could an end-user do to speed this up?

    We are…

  19. Allow SP.UserCustomAction to be publish in the Office Store

Microsoft Office Store dont allow to publish SharePoint App with Full-permission, but there is the need from Site Administrators to extend the Out of the box functionalities such us
    SP.UserCustomAction object (sp.js)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj245920.aspx to the Site Administrators be able to add custom Actions/Ribbons and Script to their business in the Host Web Site.
If this option can be done from the App Web to Host Web will avoid SharePoint Solution instalation "WSP" in Farms, the complexity of XML will be reduced and eficiency will increase (hours spent by Dev can be reduce in minutes)
    App example: http://aaclage.blogspot.ch/2014/06/sharepoint-app-processlynx-custom.html

    It is possible…

  20. Support the Importing of slides in PowerPoint

I would like to be able to provide an add-in that could insert slides into a presentation. This is a similar concept to the Word Clause library. To provide maximum flexibility to the dev I would suggest using the Ooxml coercionType. Both Get and Set would be ideal
