I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  3. setSelectedDataAsync with data type “HTML” and “Office Open XML” in PowerPoint

Make it possible to use setSelectedDataAsync with data type “HTML” and “Office Open XML” in PowerPoint. Currently it is only Word that can use data type “HTML” and “Office Open XML”.

  4. Allow PowerPoint Add-In to create new Slide

Add support for the Add-In to create a new slide in the presentation. A possible use case would be to support the ability for an add-in to insert template marketing slides. A sales person needs to create a new presentation. The add-in pulls the latest marketing slide from a repository and adds them to the presentation ensuring that the sales person is always using the latest slides

  5. Adding Field Codes for Word Using Word Javascript API

I want to add field codes using word JavaScript API. I checked the API documentation but I found nothing regarding this. It would be great, if there a possible way to do this through the API.

  6. client-side ribbon manipulation

I'd like to see the ability to register ribbon items (tabs and their children) dynamically on the client-side via my app or some tenant scoped javascript that I can register (needs to work with SharePoint Online and should not block submittal to the store). Right now the only way to register a ribbon item of any sort is to do so during the app installation which doesn’t allow us to extend the ribbon over time (either with our own service adding items or by allowing the user to add their own items via an app or whatever).

  7. Wrapping OOXML APIs Needed - insertComment, insertBookmark, insertOoxmlFragment

The API makes it very very difficult to wrap content in the underlying OOXML with additional OOXML.

SUGGESTION: It would be great if there were a range.insertComment, range.insertBookmark that worked exactly like range.insertContentControl does! Or please give us a method to get the current OOXML fragment represented by a range. I'm trying to insert bookmarks and I've seen others trying to insert comments, around the selected text. The getOoxml() methods are great if you're writing copy/paste functionality, but that doesn't help you if you're trying to manipulate/wrap the fragment.

  8. Make Outlook/Mail Universal App supporting Office add-ins

The Universal App Mail (Outlook mobile) is definitely used a lot and is a solid candidate for being the mobile friendly Outlook client people were looking for.
Unfortunately, the version 17.6525.42271.0 does not support office add-ins. I did not see a roadmap indicating it will be, but that would be a huge plus. Now the only mobile approach to consume add-ins is with a fallback with Outlook Web Access.

  9. Support the Importing of slides in PowerPoint

I would like to be able to provide an add-in that could insert slides into a presentation. This is a similar concept to the Word Clause library. To provide maximum flexibility to the dev I would suggest using the Ooxml coercionType. Both Get and Set would be ideal

  10. Create Word Comments via Office API

    Hi,

Could you add functionality to create Word comments via the Office API?

I know have a proof of concept, named Feedback+, in the store where we create comments into a word document. But this has a bug. It creates a paragraph everytime someone creates a comment in the document.

    Thanks,

    JW

  11. Solve Office Activation Issues on Azure VMs

Office installed on Azure VMs are losing their activation after a VM shutdown. This makes it impossible to create test VMs or use Office on a developer VM to develop/test/deploy(buildserver output) on Azure. Activation based on hardware assets such as harddrive and network MAC/IP combinations is outdated in 2014 and invalidates your VM images.

  13. Support Regex (regular expressions) via Search javascript API

context.document.body.search and range.search do not accept regular expressions (regex) as search patterns. The current wildcard language that is supported is far less capable. We have documents with lots of patterns that we look for via regular expressions and currently that is not possible with the javascript API. Please consider adding support for that.

  14. Office Apps for all Clients Applications

I saw a lot of devs and customers being confused caused by the point that Apps are not available across all Office client applications. Especially OneNote would be a great benefit. OneNote is one of the best Apps I've ever used. Can't imagine my daily business without OneNote. We've collected several ideas which would enhance OneNote even more and make customer more productive.

  15. Allow edits made by Office.js API functions (setDataAsync et. al.) to be 'undone' with Ctrl-z

Right now, an app makes changes to the sheet, there's no way for the user to undo those changes (or their previous changes).

  16. getSelectedDataAsync for Powerpoint shapes

getSelectedDataAsync only return text string (if there is text in selected shape). Would be great to return more info of selected shape, perhaps in OOXML/HTML form, or at least a shape ID.

  17. Allow access to page margins

Currently there is no direct way to access page margins in the Word JS API. If I want to insert a new document into the file, it maintains the page margins of the current document.

  18. Add keyboard shortcut

In all previous versions of MS Word I used ability to assign keyboard shortcut to a macro. However JavaScript API for Office seems to not support this. It is so strange and unexpected.
Unfortunately absence of this feature is a blocker for me to develop custom plugins for Word 2013 online. Could be great to have it back!

  19. Add SlideSelectionChanged event for Powerpoint in the JavaScript API

The JavaScript API for Office should be enhanced so developers have an event notifying if the current slide in the normal / edit mode is changed. This would allow for more contextual user interaction.

  20. Use Office Add-ins (js) to import Mail Merge Data

My scenario is that I am creating a dataset in an office js task pane which I would like to feed into the native mail merge data source, this is available in the VSTO version of Office add ins by using the ActiveDocument.MailMerge.OpenDataSource(@path) method.
