  2. Provide a Design Implementation for O365, SPO, SP2013 & Office App Developers

    When building an app for Office 365, SharePoint Online, SharePoint 2013 or Office Apps, there is one challenge many developers face: making their app look & feel like the host they came from or run within. All the hosts mentioned in the subject implement the Microsoft Modern design (http://www.microsoft.com/design/)... each one has guidelines (like sharepoint's here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/fp179934.aspx & Office apps here https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/dn324912.aspx) but what we're missing is a pack of CSS & components to make it easy to do.

    For comparison, Google's Material Design (http://www.google.com/design/spec/material-design/introduction.html) is not just a spec, but there are people implementing…

    Thanks for your feedback! We’ve just announced pinnable task pane feature at Ignite. Users will be able to pin task panes to remain open as they navigate through messages. Please check it out and give us feedback.

    If you’ve other ideas, please open new suggestions on UserVoice.

    Thanks!

  5. Customisable SuiteBar

    The suitebar concept is a great idea to allow the user to navigate around the Office365 and on-prem SP worlds. Where it falls down is that it is defined and can not be added to or changed.

    The following are common requests from client projects:

    > Can we put our logo in the top left instead of the Office365 logo? And can it navigate to the tenant root ie '/' instead of the public Microsoft site.
    > Can we add additional items to it such as the intranet portal or other line of business entry site.
    > Can i change…

  6. Support "add-in commands" on all platforms and in 2013

    Support add-in commands on phone, tablet, web, desktop, Mac, and in 2013 (not just 2016).

    Right now, "Add-in commands currently work only in Outlook in Office 2016 Preview on Windows desktop": https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/mt267546.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

    For our product, the new add-in platform is a no-go without add-in commands.

  7. Extend the getFileAsync functionality to work on Excel as well.

    Extend the getFileAsync functionality to work on Excel as well. It's essential in order to be able to export the file to a web service.

    Thank you for your feedback! We’re happy to announce that you can now get Excel files using the getFileAsync() method. You can read more about it here: https://dev.office.com/reference/add-ins/shared/document.getfileasync

    And there is also a code sample of how to get Excel files here: https://github.com/OfficeDev/office-js-snippets/blob/master/samples/excel/82-document/get-file-in-slices-async.yaml

    Please check it out and give us feedback.

    Thanks!

  8. Provide Mail App Compose functionality to Save current appointment/mail

    I'm currently working on a Mail Compose App and I need the ItemId of the current Appointment (or mail), so I can communicate with the message in a later stadium using EWS. But currently it's not possible the save the current Appointment/Mail and therefor an ItemID is only available after the user is manually saving the appointment/message.

    I also noticed that ItemID is only available in a Read Form. In Compose form this value is always undefined.

  9. Provide the ability to add custom links to the Suite Bar

    Many of our customers require a few links to major sites or applications in their environment to appear on every page in their Office 365 / SharePoint Online environment.

    The Suite Bar is often considered a good place for these kinds of links. It would be great to be able to configure a few custom links for rendering in the Suite Bar

  10. Allow the Excel Javascript API to overwrite cells containing data when writing a "matrix"

    The Office Javascript API is buggy when writing "matrix" information via the Office.context.document.setSelectedDataAsync() method. There are two scenarios that don't make any sense:

    1) If an area is selected and the data written with setSelectedDataAsync() does not exactly match that area, the function will fail. Who cares if the data doesn't exactly match the area? Treat it as a paste operation, which doesn't care if it is overwriting data in existing cells nor what the selected area is for the paste operation - or pop up a dialog and ask the user if they want to replace the data.

    Hi there,
    We’re happy to say that this is now possible with new Excel JavaScript APIs. Please see http://dev.office.com/reference/add-ins/excel/table for more information.

  11. Content control support in Word Online

    I've posted about this here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/officeonline-word_online/content-control-support-in-word-online/0f33ba70-9fe0-4990-9f09-db5ce7f3a8c7?tm=1460747722010

    The JavaScript API provides a lot of functionalities around Content Controls, so I don't really understand why these are not supported in Word Online.

    Will we have this support eventually? Do we have any estimated date for that?

  12. Extend Office.js api to allow Task Pane apps more control of document content

    Some other useful additions to the Office.js api if possible are functions created to make the following available:

    Get the url/file path of the current document

    Manipulate text ranges in the document

    Get the word under the caret position

    Get all document contents

    If any of these are implemented this would enable us to create a much richer experience for the users of our Education Technology apps.

    Gavan, thanks for your feedback! We’re happy to report that all of your original API requests are now available in the Word JS API. Juan Balmori has provided code snippets for these APIs in the comments. Please check it out and give us feedback.

    Regarding the new ideas you’ve asked for in the comments, we request that you please create individual items for each API or feature request in UserVoice. That’ll help us track the requests more efficiently.

    Here’re the requests, for your reference:

    Ability to save the current document to a specific location
    Ability to open a file
    Ability to print:
    to a specific printer
    in a specific page format
    to specific trays

    Thanks!

  13. Provide a common Parent object in the JavaScript API to current objects

    Currently in the JavaScript API (speaking of Excel specifically, but this should be Office-wide). This is somewhat in the API right now, but it is not fully worked out, and most importantly it's non-uniform in its application in the current objects available.

    Grabbing a table object, it has a getRange() property. This allows us to get the range of the table, that's great. The range object then has a worksheet property. Where this varies from the much more robust VBA is that a ListObject (aka table) has a Parent of the worksheet, not a range. A range has a Parent…

  14. Provide Office365 Exchange Task API Support

    Although some Exchange functionality is supported in Office365, the Tasks are not one of them yet. Please consider adding Tasks support to the API.

  15. Add ability to refresh Pivot Tables via Office Javascript API

    Currently we are allowed to insert Excel tables via the JS API, I'm allowing users to insert tables for reporting purposes. The easiest way of making sense of table data is to create a Pivot Table off of it.

    I'd really love to see the JS API be enhanced to allow Pivot Tables to be refreshed via the Office JS API.

    At first a simple "Refresh All Pivots" method would be awesome as then I could automatically refresh Pivot Tables and Charts inside my users workbooks - allowing them to get instant updates on what their data looks like in…

  16. Allow app to create new sheets on Excel 2013

    It will be a good move if office js is able to create new work sheets in Excel with Task pane apps.
    Right now i dont think the office js providing this feature.

  17. Add additional features to the Office JavaScript API for interacting with Excel Tables to allow developers to create rich Table-based Apps

    Add additional features to the Office JavaScript API for interacting with Excel Tables to allow developers to create rich Table-based Apps. Some top priority items should include

    1. The ability to name an Excel Table that is assigned a Table Binding.

    2. The ability to read an Excel Table name for a table that is assigned a Table Binding.

    3. The ability to select and highlight an Excel Table in the worksheet by using its name.

    These features would be useful for an Office App that is going to create many Excel tables in a worksheet. Each table may be…

  18. Create a new Word Online document

    Add a function in Office.js to create a new Word online document to the logged in user's OneDrive account.

    This call would utilize the code behind the "+new" button in OneDrive by generating a new Word Online document in the top level folder location.

    Also add the ability to append content to this new document.

    Finally add the ability to open this document.

    e.g Pseudocode:

    // Create a document in memory:
    var doc = WordOnline.Create();

    //Insert paragraph
    doc.InsertParagraph("This is my first paragraph");

    //open document
    doc.Launch();

    This would be of great benefit to educational task pane apps for creating specific lesson…

  19. Enable Task Pane Apps from Word Online

    Task pane apps are currently available for Excel and PowerPoint online, but not for Word online. We have a task pane app that runs in Word 2013 to enable users of our web application to add meeting minutes to a document. We have a similar Google Docs add-on. Currently the Google Docs add-on is superior because it enables the user to add the minutes in their browser, whereas for Word the user must first load the document from Office 365/SharePoint and then choose to open in Word desktop before they can add minutes using the Task Pane app. This makes…

  20. Ability to modify Excel worksheet visibility

    Please provide the ability to modify Excel worksheet visibility from Office.js (in a task pane add-in).

    The Worksheet.visibility property is currently read-only. Ideally, this property could also be modified to change worksheet visibility at runtime.
