Trusted Catalog / Shared Folder: Incompatibility Excel 2013/2016
The add-in is loaded from a shared folder (manifest file)
There is one difference between Excel 2013 and 2016.
When I change the location of the shared folder from server A to server B (move manifest file to different server), then the Add-In will not load in 2016. Of course I have adjusted the "Trusted Catalogs" accordingly in the trust center settings, to trust the NEW location (new shared folder). The error "This add-in is no longer available from the following server ..." is shown.
In Excel 2013 the above scenario works fine - have you changed that in 2016 and why?
If so, you can no longer distribute Excel files within an organization that serves a given Add-in from different folders / servers???
There is one way how I can manage to use the manisfest from a different server (shared folder):
- When the described error message shows, then remove the add-in
- Save the Workbook
- Re-open the workbook (no add-in is attached to it now)
- Re-Insert Add-In, now using the new trusted catalog >> That will work fine
Now saving the file and re-opening it will lead to the same error...
I believe that this really is very critical!
