I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

• When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
• You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
• To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

1. Display the taskpane on the left of the document

When insert a web add-in (taskpane app) to Word, the taskpane will display on the right of the document as default. I see there is a property called dockstate in XML. Can you provide a function to set the value to make the taskpane display on the left of the document?

• Option to embed excel elements in word, Office JS

Just like we can copy paste elements from excel such as individual cell values, tables, charts etc, into Word and create a link between those two, so that if values are updated in Excel, they are also updated in word.

I want it to be possible to do the same using Office JS in my word add-in.

• Office Add-ins should run in Edge, not IE11

At the moment Word runs Add-ins in IE11

IE11 doesnt support ES2016, and is therefore much harder to develop for than all of the other newer browsers (Safari, Chrome, Edge).

Word should run Add-ins in Edge

• Blank Right Hand Pane- Problem with Task Pane and web browser ActiveX control.

We are encountering an issue that we call the “Blank Right Hand Pane.” Alex on our team has created the attached Visual Studio Project and Problem description. The issue appears to be related to when “Optimize for best appearance” is selected.

This issue is impacting a large number of our customers.

We have attachments with details of the problem and description that have been emailed as can not attach here
Word Adin project shows an example when WebBrowser control ActiveX is failing if “Optimize for best appearance” Is selected for user Interface.
Result with “Optimize for compatibility”

• ms word/excel simple way to create new file

Sir/Madam
I wish to suggest an improvement option about MS-WORD/MS-EXCEL.
When we wish to create new WORD/EXCEL file, we right click on old file and select NEW option from it then both old & new files are open.
1. I wish to improve it as only open New file(Blank file) but not old.
2. I also suggest another improvement as if we bring/put the cursor on a file (WORD/EXCEL/IMAGE) then the content of that file i.e first page/first half page will appear as a flash i mean file not open until we click

• Allow navigating to end of text selection

When adding bindings, it is possible to navigate to the binding by it's id. An option of `gotoByIdAsync` is to pass `Office.SelectionMode.Selected` or `Office.SelectionMode.None`, where the latter moves the cursor to the beginning of the binding.

An option here would be preferable which allows navigating the cursor to the end of the binding's selection.

## Why?

Using bindings is one of the few ways to change the selection. This way of navigating should be as versatile as possible.

In our scenario we want to make another modification to the selection after navigating to the end of the selection.

## References

• Open web links in default browser rather than IE for desktop Word

Clicking on hyperlinks in Word Add-in opens up IE browser
eq. <a href="http://example.com" target="_blank"> then the window is IE.

It would be better if it would be default browser (as users are usually only logged into web portals with their default browser)

• Allow to customize the pop-up dialogue title when it is called by displayDialogAsync

I'm using Office.context.ui.displayDialogAsync to display a popup dialog.

In word and powerpoint for Windows, the Window title is shown as the add-in name.

In word and powerpoint Online, the window title is 'Message from Add-in: ' followed by the add-in name. This doesn't look too good.

I suggest to let user customize the title his way by

(a) provide the title as a parameter to the api

(b) use the html page title

or at least (c) remove the text 'Message from Add-in: ' in the case of office Online

I'm saving the documento to a DB extracting the base64 file with Office.context.document.getFileAsync, but I need the counterpart to load my document, I tried with thisDocument.body.insertFileFromBase64, but I't doesn't load layout setting, header, footer etc, I also tryed a method from the beta context.application.createDocument(base64file) but this opens a new instance of word and this does not fit mi app requirement, are there any other alternatives? can this be done with and add-in?

• Programmatically disable/hide the Ribbon menu

We are in the process of development for Office 365 based Add-ins for Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
It would be really nice, if we could have a way to disable/hide the ribbon buttons based on some data against that particular user.

• Adding Field Codes for Word Using Word Javascript API

I want to add field codes using word JavaScript API. I checked the API documentation but I found nothing regarding this. It would be great, if there a possible way to do this through the API.
