Benoit, thank you for your input, it is greatly appreciated. This is definitely something we’d like to get to soon, but unfortunately there are a few other higher priority items. We’ll keep you posted with status updates.
Thanks!

It would be great to have this feature supporting also ribbon items (e.g. I don't want to show 'Log in' button when user is already logged in, instead I would expect 'Log out'). Moreover, certain group of commands could be shown based on the cell selection, etc.

And not only from task pane but from ribbon as well (imagine dropdown item where you select item which you want to show)... similar to ShowTaskPane function.

It would be great to give them ability to change the size dynamically as well.
Also I don't understand why in the browser edition (Office365) the width is fixed. This should be improved as well. -

Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to announce that the capability to message a dialog from the task pane is now available in preview. Please follow this link to get further information: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/develop/parent-to-dialog
With this API, the task pane can now message the dialog as well, pairing with the existing API allowing the dialog to message the task pane.

Please consider the requirements for Drag and Drop. IT would make many user interactions much simpler when you just move something from Pane to Sheet and vice versa not having to always select cell first, etc.

Any update? Sorry, but it will be one year since your "needs more information" respond.

Moreover, it would be great also to support D&D feedback so customized icons can be shown.

I agree with the previous comment with one more requirement that D&D from sheet to taskpane should work.
Moreover, it would be great if D&D from task pane could generate UDF (once implemented in JS API) in the target cell or would allow to show some custom dialog (to select what to do).An error occurred while saving the comment atti commented
It is must have from usability perspective. It is much easier to drag/drop than manually selecting cell and then again going to task pane to e.g. insert value.

Hi Brian. Thank you for your input, it is greatly appreciated! We’ve added this to our backlog as something we want to implement. There are many items on the backlog, so we can’t set an exact estimated time for this, but we’ll keep you posted with status updates.
Thanks!

Note that there is this requirement that could also help in certain cases:

This is extremely annoying thing! Note that it completely breaks functionality of many addins!
We definitely need to have some option how to cancel the edit OR JS API should work fine even when in this mode (at least reading operations like getting cell address should work!).

Thank you! We are considering enhancing the platform with some document events like the ones described here. Once we have something more concrete to share we will do so. If there are particular events (e.g. Doc open) that you care the most about do share with us.

@All: in different but similar feature requirements there is this response (see below) so each of you should take a look:
---------------------------
Thank you for your request! We are collecting API requirements for developing Office Add-ins in Excel, specifically for Events API.
If you are considering moving an existing COM/VSTO/VBA Add-in to Office Add-in, or creating a new Office Add-in in Excel, and have events requirements, please fill the survey below and help us focus on the right set of events and design. We truly appreciate your help!
Thanks!

I don't understand why there is Document.SelectionChanged but not Document.DataChanged. What if I have workbook and I want to capture any change there? Why I need to bother with bindings?
Not even talking about the fact that it is really useful to get data BEFORE and also data AFTER the change.

- CalculationEndedSHEET specific:

- Activate

Rajesh, thanks for your feedback! Corporate deployment feature for Office 365 allows assignment of add-ins. Why is this feature not sufficient to meet the requirement? Could you please share some details about your scenario? That’ll help us understand the feature fully.
Thanks!

Fix the issue with new JavaScript API for Excel: any change by an add-in clears the Undo/Redo stack.
118 votesRenat, thanks for reporting this issue! We are aware of this and the bug is currently being patched. Note that the undo stack will be removed upon any “update” action occurring in the add-in. For read actions, we’ll preserve the undo-stack. We’ll let you know when this is available.
Thanks,

Just to explain (2) - of course one approach is to simply introduce new formulas and let the migration on customers (huge effort for them if they have hundreds/thousands of big reports).
Second is to provide automatic migration in the addin - but that means huge investment in building proper parser to support all complex scenarios similar to building parser for nice/intuitive and robust function wizard...
