Hi, fellow developer here. From my understanding when you add HTML to the message body, Outlook has to interpret this code into something similar to a Word document as the body is fully editable by the user via the cursor. A possible workaround for you is to save the raw HTML you inserted as a customProperty in the Item, then you can query that at a later time for your use-case. Good luck.
