After more review it seems like any document opened with createDocument() has some issues with it. The first being the "Split" view is disabled, and if you try to create a new end note or foot note, a new MS Word window will pop-up for no reason;Collin Stowell shared this idea ·

Cannot echo this enough, could use all the same features as Hlynur mentioned:
- Adding custom data to Shapes, Slides and Presentation (similar to what is possible with the Tag property on Content Controls in Word)
- Manipulation of Document Properties. Both built-in and custom.
- Importing of all the slides in a base64 file after the current slide of the current presentation. Similar to insertFileFromBase64 in Word:

Thank you for sharing! We’re always looking at making more investments in expanding the API support. We’ll pass this request along to the engineering teams. We’ll also update the blogs here at http://blogs.office.com/dev/ with any news.
Thank you for your input! We’ve added this to our backlog as something we want to implement. There are many items on the backlog, so we can’t set an exact estimated time for this, but we’ll keep you posted with status updates.

Couldn't agree more. One of the biggest drawbacks with createDocument, createWorkbook, and createPresentation is that it opens in a new window and the add-in (and add-in state) is entirely lost. Could this be implemented?
